ELLESMERE AGRICULTURAL AND PASTORAL ASSOCIATION.

A meeting of the committee was held at Spring's Loeston Hotel on Thursday, 15th July, 1880. Present—Messrs W. D. Laurence, president (in the chair), W. Biag, W. Bishop and T. Manson, vice-presidents, and an influential majority of tho c 'mmitteo" Correspondence wa» read from the Hon. John Hall, accepting the office of patron, and whilst regretting his inability to personally lake part in tho proceedings of tho Association, testifying to the interest he always took in its operations. The principal business of the meeting, viz, the revision of tho programme, was then proceeded with, and several important additions and alterations in the schedule of the previous year having been mad 3, the secretary was instructed to have the usual number of copies printed and circulated at once. The report of the ground committee wbb made by MrLunn, and several addressed the meeting in favor of having no tenant rather than allow the plantations and fences to be destroyed as at present. A resolution in accordance with the foregoing suggestion was unanimously adopted. Mr O. Lewis proposed—" That animals to whom first prizes in the same class had been awarded three years in succession should be debarred from competing." Mr M'Kellar seconded the proposition. The opinion of the meeting was however opposed to the alteration, and the proposition was rejected. The question of holding a horse parade was discussed, and ultimately it was decided to hold a parade on the show grounds on Tues day, the 21st September, at noon. The president, the mover, the ground committee, and the secretary wero empowered to make arrangements. It was also suggested to hold a flower show in connection with the annual exhilition, the committee, however, decided to offer every facility for holding a horticultural exhibition to the promoters, but declined taking the initiatory stops themselves. The meeting was then canvassed for special prizes, and upwards of £3O promised at once. The secretary was instructed to write to the donors of private prizes last year, requesting them to renew their prizes this season, also to get subscription tickets printed and distributed at once. The meeting then adjourned to Thursday, the 19th August, at 7 p.m., after passing the usual compliment to the chairman.
