MAGISTRATES’ COURTS.
CHEISXOHUBOH. Thubsday, July 15. [Before J. Beswick, Esq., R.M.;I G, L. Lee, Esq., J.P.; J. E. Parker, Esq., J.P. ; and R. Westenra, Esq., J.P.] Dbunkenness. —Reuben Hannan and Thomas Joseph Denis, two youths of the genus larrikin, were jointly charged with drunkenness, and the former with committing a breach of the peace in Colombo street. Hannan was fined 10s, and Denis ss. Wm. "Warner and William John Wilson, a notorious offender, were each fined 10s. Mary Bannister, whose vagaries on the previous day led to her being locked up again, was also fined Ids.
Maintenance. —William Henry Strange was charged with disobeying an order of the Court directing him to pay 17s a week towards the maintenance of his wife and children. Owing to the circumstances of defendant the amount was reduced to 10s.
Bebach of Game Laws.— The Court overruled the objections raised by Mr Stringer to the applicability of the Game Laws, and inflicted a fine of 40s and costs on each of the following defendants, for unlawfully trespassing and shooting game—Albert Hawkins, William Lodge, Thomas, John, and Bobert Savill, and George Stanley.
