GOOD TEMPLARY.

A public meeting in connection with the Dauntless Lodge was held on Friday night, July 9th, in the Templar Hall. There was a very large attendance, the hall being crowded, and many were unable to get admission. The chief feature of the evening was an address from Dr Bussell, a physician lately arrived in Christchurch from England. He gave an interesting account of the work being done by the various societies for the promotion of temperance in England, and enlarged somewhat on the medical aspect of the question. He had been in practice for twenty years, and had not prescribed alcoholic drink in any case yet. It is his intention to deliver some popular science lectures on the subject of total abstinence. A capital programme of songs and music was also given.
