OHHISTOHDROH. Monday, July 12. [Before Joseph Beswiok, Esq., R.M., R. Westenra, Esq., G. L. Lee, Esq., and J. P. Jameson, Esq., J.P.’s.l Stabbing-.—Geo. Dobbinson, charged with cutting and wounding his wife, was remanded till the 19th inst, the woman being unfit to appear. Labrxkinibm. —Frederic Lane, a boy of about fourteen years of age, was brought up for strewing cobblers’ wax about the seats in Durham street Wesleyan chapel on Sunday evening last. Mr Harris deposed to taking accused in the act. Another witness spoke to accused being one of a gang of boys who have made a practice of annoying the congregation in various ways for some time past. The trustees of the church not wishing for severe punishment, the boy was dismissed with a severe reprimand. Dbiting on Footpath, James Toppin, for this offence and breaking drain pipes in Sydenham on the 14th instant, was fined 10s and ordered to pay damages. Breaches of Game Laws. —Wm. Lodge, Albert Hawkins, George Stanley, John Savill, Robert Savill, and Charles Stokes appeared, on summonses, to answer for unlawfully pursuing game. Mr Thomas appeared for the Acclimatisation Society, and the evidence of rangers having been taken, Mr Stringer, for the Savills objected—l. No appointments of rangers had been produced. 2. The Acclimatisation Society had no legal existence under the Act, not having registered its rules. 3. No property of anyone in the animals pursued had been shown. And, 4. That the Acclimatisation Act is not in force at all, there having been no proclamation of the turning out of game by any society, which is absolutely required before the Act can operate. The Bench reserved its decision on the whole of the cases till the 15th instant. Trespassing in Pdestjit of Game. — The case of Thomas Frame, for an offence of this nature, was adjourned, pending decision on the other infringements of the Acclimatisation Act. Failing to Provide, —Benjamin Moss was brought up for illtreating his wife and neglecting to provide suitable maintenance for his family. His wife prayed for a separation order. The evidence showed there were faults on both sides, and defendant was dismissed with a caution. Beeach of Building By-Laws. —The cases of Richard Walker, Charles Orchard, and Simpson Stoddart, for this offence, were adjourned till the 19th inst.
