CEMETERY BOARD.
The Christchurch Cemetery Board held a meeting in the Provincial Chamber yesterday afternoon, there being present—Mr Jameson (in the chair), the Er.v. H. C. M. Watson, Mr Anderson, and the Key. Dims. Fraser. A letter was read from the secretary to the Hebrew congregation’in Christchurch to the effect that application had bean made to the Government to appoint Mr Caro to represent that body on the Board. In connection with the subject raised at a former meeting as to the road to the public Cemetery, the chairman stated that he had consulted with the chairman of the Ayon Road Board, who stated that the Board had no funds for the work, but that the County Council had money due to the Board, part of which they would be willing to expend in making the road, were it at '.their disposal. It was therefore resolved, cn the motion of Mr Fraser, that the Selwyn County Council be memorialised to place the sum of £3OO, out of money at their disposal, for the purpose of forming and metalling the road to the public cemetery. A question subsequently arose as to the route to be taken in yiew of the tramway being extended in that direction, and it was agreed that the chairman should confer with the chairman of the Tramway Company with the view of deciding upon the line which the tramway should take, and making an estimate of the ccst. A letter was read from the Oust Cemc-tery Board, expressing willingness to assist this Board in promoting necessary amendments in the Public Cemeteries Bill. This concluded the business, and the Board then adjourned.
