LICENSED VICTUALLERS’ ASSOCIATION.
The annual general meeting of tlie members of the above association was held at Morton’s Hotel last evening, and was very well attended. Mr Morton (president) occupied the chair. The immediate business before the meeting was the election of officers for the ensuing year, the consideration of the balance-sheet, and to hear the report of the delegates to the conferences at Wellington. The following gentlemen were appointed as committee : Messrs J. W. Morton (president), J. Barlow (hon. treasurer), Ravonhill, Richardson, Allen, Deal, and Cooksou. Mr E. D. Thomas was re-elected solicitor for the ensuing year, Messrs Richardson and Johnstone as auditors, and Mr O. W. Greenwood as secretary. Mr Hiorns (Central Hotel) and Mr Leo (Messrs Ward and Co.) delegates from Canterbury) gave a most exhaustive , account of the result of the delegations to Wellington in re the Licensing Bill and the beer tax. The matters brought forward were of great interest to the trade. After the usual votes of thanks the meeting adjourned sine die.
