CONVERSAZIONE.
A very successful conversazione was held last night ia St. John’s Schoolroom, in continuation of the celebration of the centenary of Sabbath schools. The room was crowded to excess, and had been literally filled with what Mrs Partington would call articles of “ bigotry and virtue.’’ Thera wjre paintings, sculpture, statuary, curios of all kinds, electric machines, photographs, and a hundred other articles of interest, which attracted the attention of the large number of visitors. In addition, to all this, the programme included addresses, and musical selections by the choir of the church, under the direction of Mr Landergan. The Bishop the chair, and delivered an opening address. This was followed by a relection by the choir, and the Rev. H. O. M. Watson then, in place of Mr Twentyman, gave an address on “ The Origin and 'Histoiy of Sunday Schools.” After some music, the Dean delivered an address on "The Relation of the Sunday School to the Church.” So successful was the conversazione, that it has been determined to open the exhibition of articles from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., and there will also be vocal and instrumental music at intervals during the evening.
