CHRISTCHURCH INDUSTRIAL EXHIBITION.
A meeting of the general committee was held in the offices of Messrs Draper and Charters yesterday evening. The Chairman stated that since the last meeting the list had been closed, and there were in all 151 applications to exhibit, and judging from the variety of the exhibits on behalf of which space had been applied for, he had no doubt whatever as to the complete success of the exhibition. Matters of a routine character were then discussed, and it was resolved that the space committee and the machinery committee should meet on the day following and visit the Drillshed, with the object of mating the necessary arrangements for allotting apace to exhibitors and ascertaining what steps should be taken to provide steam power for working the machinery to be exhibited in motion. Other questions of a departmental character were also disposed of and meetings of the sub-committeea were subsequently held. During the meeting of the general committee an apology was made by Mr Oherrill for the absence of Professor Bickerton, who is at present absent in Wellington, but will be in Christchurch during the exhibition week.
