PARLIAMENTARY NEWS.

[By Tblbgeaph.] [FECI! OtTB OWN COBEBSPONDBNT.] WELLINGTON, June 2S. In the no-confidence debate last night Mr Dick made a very good and telling speech, one of the best during the whole debate. At present there is no sign of the division taking place earlier than Wednesday, which I mentioned yesterday as the probable date._ The estimated relative strength of parties is unchanged. A Representation Bill is about to bo introduced hy tho Government, but it is not probable that it will be before the for another week or so, as some of its provisions are still under the careful consideration of the Cabinet. The redistribution of representation is to bo based mainly on population, some concession, however, being made to country districts. The boundaries of the new districts will be, so far as possible, conterminous with those of existing country Road Boards or other districts. I believe also that each district will return cnly one member, and that there will be a slight increase in the total numerical strength of the House. A letter of thanks has been sent by the Government to the Civil Service Commission in acknowledgment of its services. This was magnified to«day into a rumor that an intimation had been given that the further services of the Commission would not be required, lam assured that no such intimation had been given ; on the contrary, although the Commission beine returned lapses, it remains open to the Government to avail themselves of the further services of the same gentlemen if it should be deemed advisable. Tho time for sending in the property assessment statement has been extended from Jnne the 30th to Monday, August 2nd.
