[By Tbiiß&baph.] The greater part of the Australian news per Rotomahana was given in our issue of yesterday. The following are additional items : VIOTOEIA. The Exhibition Commissioners have added the following members to the executive committee : —Mr Graham Berry, Mr George Mourn, Mayor, Alderman O'Grady, and Mr John James Mirams, to whom the ohairman gave his casting vote. Mr Lalor's bankruptcy results from a law suit brought by the Bank of Australasia against the Australasian Gold Mining Oon> pany, in which Mr Lalor became responsible for four bills. O wing to his inability to meet the last he has placed his whole affairs in the hands of his creditors. On the Assembly meeting on June 15th, a discussion took place regarding the accounts between Messrs Bain and Son and the Bailway Department. The debate was ultimately stopped in order to admit the progress of the Reform Bill. Sir J. O'Shanassy spoke for over two hours, and urged that reform of the constitution was unnecessary, and that the question could be settled by special commission. He attacked Mr Service's Bill on every point, and declared that it was not within the power of the Assembly or the Council to paBS suoh a Bill. He deolined to place faith in a " Hottentot " Bill, alluding to the double sitting of the Cape Chambers, and unhesitatingly declared to vote against the second reading. Sir J. G. Franoiß replied on behalf of the Government, and the debate was adjourned. NEW SOUTH WALES. Mr Buchanan's protection vote was negatived by 35 to 5. An immigration vote of £76,000 was passed. Mr Burns, the late Postmaster-General, said New South Wales had received a large influx of population from other colonies during the last two years, and that mechanics had more to feur from voluntary than assisted immigration. [Per o.s. Australia, a. Auckland.] VICTORIA. The population of the colony on March 31st was 902,994. The larrikin nuisanoe is growing. A disturbance in Bourke street has been followed by one in Hotham, in whioh a largo number of roughs took part. A meeting has been held to take into consideration the danger that the oolony labors under from being dependent on New South Wales for coal. A telephone exchange will Bhortly be established in Melbourne. Government does not intend to join the postal union till the other Australian Governments decide to do so. Fred. James Paramaum, manager of the Government Stationery Department, shot himself. The winner of the Australian Coursing Club Cup will receive 500 sovs., besides a cup Talued at fifty guineas. The unemployed are again becoming troublesome, and are holding meetings. Mr Kendall, agent of the P. and O. Company, has been promoted to be assistant managing director in London. NEW SODTH WALES. A married woman met with a shooking accident at Lambton. Her clothes caught fire, causing injuries from which she died. The miners lately on strike at Wallsend and Eerndale collieries are busily engaged in taking tools down below, ready to commenoe work. Dr. Schomberg has received from the Japanese commissioner a number of exhibits from the Japan court at the Sydney Exhibition. The specimens are for the Botanical Museum at the Botanio Gardens. They comprise some important substanceß used as food and manure in Japan. The Government have determined to abolish the rates division of the waterworks, and amalgamate it with tho engineering division.
