SOUTH TOWN BELT.

This question arose at the Sydenham Borough Council meeting last evening, on letters from the city members in Wellington referring to a petition sent to Mr Andrews and presented by that gentleman to the House, the petition charging the Borough Council of Sydenham with neglecting their duty in reßpeot to the locality in question, and praying for such legislation as would enable the property mentioned to be annexed to the city of Chrißtchurch and bo rated by the City Council. It was pointed out by the town clerk and Cr. White that a large majority of the signatures were those of persons who wore not entitled to sign it, having no interest in tho borough, and the town clerk was instructed to forward to the city members a copy of the burgess roll and such other particulars as might be necessary, a sub-committee- b«nng formed with power lr> send town olark to Wellington (if deemid advisable) and take any further steps in the matter.
