MAGISTRATES' COURTS.
OHKISTOHDROH. Thuhsday, June 17. [Before 0. Whitefoord, Esq., E.M.] Dbtthkenness. —For first offence of this nature two men were fined 5s each. PBOTECTION OF EABNING3. Emily Schvader applied for an order of this kind against her husband, whom she charged with habitual drunkenness, cruelty and neglect of her and her four young children. Mr Joyce appeared for plaintiff, There was no appearance of defendant, and after hearing the evidence of the wife the order was granted. Disobeying an Oedee of Couet. Patrick Broderick, arrested at Malvern, waß brought up on warrant for neglecting to contribute to his wifo's support as ordered by this court. The evidence showed that he had not paid tho stipulated allowance, £1 per week, for the last 17 Weeks, though, as the police stated, his earnings were large during that period. Defendant was ordered to pay £1 at once, £5 at the end of a week, and £1 5s per week after that until the arrears are liquidated, when the original payment would be resumed ; in default, one month's imprisonment with hard labor.
