GRAIN AND PRODUCE.
Business during the past week has been quiet, but steady. Wheat of really good quality still finds buyers at 3s 63 f.0.b., but for lower grades the sale is more difficult. A good deal of rusty and damp wheat is offering, but fails to elicit offers of over 2s 9d to 3s. Flour has met with a fair amount of enquiry during the week, and some fair-sized parcels have been placed at £lO for town brands. Some outside country brands are offering at £9 without leading to business. Oats are unchanged, good milling being saleable at Is 3d to Is 43, and feed Is to ls2d. The Melbourne market appears to be getting worse, if inaeed that is possible. Barley continue* exceedingly dull, and any choice samples can be placed at anything like a decent price. Medium and feeding sorts are most difficult to move, and to effect sales Is 6d to 2s has to be accepted. Potatoes are coming forward freely, bnt unfortunately there is great grumbling about their condition, as the recent heavy rains and frost have left their mark. For guaranteed quality 25s is the ruling rate. Butter is in excellent demand at lOd for choice quality. Cheese shows no improvement, and sales are difficult to effect at over 4d. Hams and bacon have opened at ll|d for hams, 9d for bacon, and Bid for hams and bacon, at which figures curers report a good demand.
