The men have, however, rejected the compromise, and the strike continues. A Suspected BushrangerA man has been arrested at Tumut on suspicion of being Joseph Byrnes, the bushranger. He has been remanded for identification by the police. MELBOURNE, June 9. The Reform Bill. The debate on the Reform Bill in the Assembly still continues, and is not expected to close this week. Shipping. Sailed —Rotorua,for New Zealand, yesterday. SYDNEY, June 8. amoan Affairs. The schooner Tamar has arrived from Samoa, and brings the following news. Her Majesty's corvette Danae, twelve guns, has shelled two of the principal villages, which has incensed the Samoans, who threaten to swarm into Samoa city and massacre the whites. The Danae remains to protect the white population.
