WICKED MARKS AGAIN.
To the Editor of the Globe. StK, —Nothing could bo more calculated to win the sympathy of the general public for "Wicked Marks" than the ootMP adopted on Sunday by the police, who I must do justice to by saying tiat they_ seemed heartily ashamed of the duties thus imposed •n them—as well they might. Indeed such a scene was caused as I hope never to wt nesss again, tending as it did t> disgrace both the Christianity and intelligence, of any sensible community. Imaging if you cin, a man engiped in seliiog a little fruit and liiht refreshments in a quiat and respectable manner. The quantity I ■aw sold by him during the isev. ral times I happened to pies, would, if nothing else, prove that he was engaged tn supplying a want or necssity. Then draw a picture of several t olicemen armed with alt the terrors of the law, taking the names and residences of tho several customers, whilst a gentleman, draped in a cl >rical habit, distributer! a tract to each of the ' wicked man's " customers. If anything meaner or more conteaptable than this could take placd in tho back woods of America, I leave those who have put fieae forces in motion and y oar intelligent reader* to imagine, Yours, &c, A LOOKER ON.
