MAIL NOTICES.
Mails close at the Chief Post Office for the following places (subject to the necessary alterations) as under: — FRIDAY, MAY 28. For Northern forts of Now Zealand and Australian Colonies, via Sydney, per Wakatipu, at 7p m. The guard’s van must not be used for this mail, SATURDAY. MAY 25. For Oamatu, per Grafton, at 11.25 a.m.; late fee letters, 11.35 a.m.; guard’s von, 12.10 p.m. train. For Otago, per Maori, at 12.30 p.m.; late fee letters, 12.45 p.m ; guard’s van, 1.25 p.m. train. For Northern Ports, per Taiaroa, at 7 p.m. The guard’s van must not he used for this mail. TUESDAY, JUNE 1. For Otago and Australian Colonies, per Botomahana. The next mail for the United Kingdom, via Brindisi (for correspondence specially addressed only), will be closed at Christchurch on June 3rd, and will be due in London on July 24th. The next mail for the United Kingdom via San Francisco, will be closed at Ohristchuich on •Tune 19, and will be due in London on Augusts. The Post Offices at Christchurch and Lyttelton will bo open every Saturday night, from half-past six until a quarter to eight o’clock, for the purpose of receiving Savings’ Bank deposits only.
