CHEISTCHTJBOH. Fbidat, Mat 21. [Before G. L. Hellish, Esq., R.M., and J. T. Brown, Esq., J P.] Bbunk and Disobdebly. —Mary Wadey and Mary Byan were charged with the above of fences. The arresting constable proved that the accused were driving about the city in a buggy yesterday afternoon. He watched them, and saw they were cot in a fit state to have control of a horse and trap. They finally pulled up at a brothel in Lichfield street, when he took them into custody. Sergeant Morice de osed to the accused being brought to the police depot at 4 p.m. yesterday. They were both very drunk. Wadey was fined 10s, and Hyan, 20a. Illegally on Pbehises. —Bichard Wood was charged with being illegally on the premises of Bicbard Bicbardson, leasee of the Empire Hotel, High street. K. Bicbardson deposed to finding prisoner, about half-past nine o’clock last night, in hi* pantry, which opens into the yard of his premises. Prisoner rushed out and tried to scale the fence. It was not the first time he bad been found on the premises. He had often missed food from the pantry. It was about a fortnight ago he found him there before. Accused said it was false, he was there with no bad intention on this occasion; he went to gat information about joining a lodge. The police gave him a bad character. Sentenced to fortyeight hours’ imprisonment with hard labour. LYTTELTON. Fbiday, Mat 21. [Before Joseph Beswick, Esq , B.M.] Absent pboh his Ship. —Thos M'Phaydon, cook of the ship J'untrune, was sent to gaol for a month for being away from his ship without permission. Civil Business. —Murphy v. Perham, claim £lB 14s 3d ; Buckland v Same, claim. £IG ; Dempster v Same, claim £2B; Connor r Same, claim £2l 5s 6d. The plaintiffs, who were represented by Mr H. N. Nalder, sued defendant for wages for labonr done on a contract for constructing a road from Port Levy to Pigeon Bay, defendant being one of the contractors. The Bench gave judgment for amount claimed, with counsel’s fee in each esse. Blake and Co. v Blackler, claim £2 5s 2d ; judgment by default, with costs. Same v Boyd, claim £2 XOi; judgment by default, with costs.
