HEAD QUARTERS BAND.
An adjourned meeting of the headquarters' ba~d was held at the Gonznercial Hotel en Tu sday, May 4r,b, end ■was well attended. In the absence of Major Lean, Mr H. Toomer was voted to the chair. Mr Button was in attendance, and explained why the Cavalry and Battalion Bands could not amalgamate in making an Headquarters' Band, the officers of the Cavalry, it seems, wishing to retain their own band. Major Lean was unanimously elected president of the band. The following gentlemen wore duly elected to the various offices : Mr W. Dorn, bandmaster ; Mr A. F. Toomer, secretary ; Mr W. McLeon, treasurer; and Messrs H. Toomer, W. McLean, Battegan, Horsfield, Seaton, Glanville, and W. Bu?k, committee. It was deemed advisable to leave the offices of non-commissioned officers open for three months. It was also decided that the opening practico should be held at Messrs. Toomer Bros.' boot factory, Lichfield street, on Monday next, at; 8 p.m., when all intonding members are requested to be present. After a few minor remarks and a vote of thanks to the chairman, the meeting closed.
