WAIMAKARIRI HARBOAR BOARD.
The monthly meeting of this Board was hold at the Kaiapoi Council Chamber, on Monday evening. Present—Messrs Blackwell (chairman), Parnham, and Moore. Letters were read from—Mr E. Balch, expressing a wish to give up tenancy of a bacon-curing shed and the land. It was resolved that Mr Baleh be released from his agreement from April 30th. From Mr J. W. Ellon, offering £ls for halfyear’s rental of land and buildings of the old mill. It was decided that Mr Ellen be offered the premises for £3O for six months, or, if he would lease the same for five years, at the rate of £26 par annum. The question of insurance of all buildings on the Beard’s property was discussed, and it was resolved to save the matter attended to. The clerk was instructed to sue for all rents over three months in arrear. The chairman gave instructions to have tho willows removed and some clearing done to the channel of the river, in anticipation of the early expected arrival of vessels to take in grain cargoes. The Board then adjourned.
