NEW LIFE ASSURANCE ASSOCIATION.
Mr J. A. Templeton, P.1.A., of Melbourne, actuary and secretary of the National Mutual Life Association of Australasia, has arrived in Ohristohuroh for the purpose of appointing representatives of his office. He has already taken offices in Wellington, where he has secured a Local Board of Directors and a resident secretary, and his purpose is to appoint agents throughout New Zealand. The head office is in Melbourne, Victoria, where Mr Templeton established the association in the year 1869, and in fulfilment of the intentions then expressed, the business has been extended to New South Wales, South Australia, and Tasmania. The success attendant upon these extensions has encouraged tho directors now to commence business in New Zealand, and Mr Templeton has paid us a visit with that object in view. Mr Templeton claims to have been tho first to introduce into life assurance policies the condition protecting the rights of persons assured by compelling the directors to apply the surrender value of policies in payment of premiums in arrear.
