THE ENGLISH MARKETS.

We are indebted to the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile .flgeacy Company, Limited, for tha following copy of their produce telegram, dated London, 21st April, 1880: Wool.—The sales opened with spirit on the 20th inst., at an average advance of Id to l£d on last sale prices. The opening catalogue contained 8500 bales. The sales comprise 380,000 bales. 30,000 bales have been sent to the manufacturing districts direct. Competition by both home and foreign buyers is active. Trade in the m anufacturing districts is not so good. Continental markets are lightly stocked. _ The following advances have been exhibited Eince close of last sales—Greasy, Id lb; clothing wa hed, Id; combing washed, 2d ; scoured, ldtoljd; crossbred superior greasy, jd to Id; ditto, superior combing washed, lambs — Market unchanged. The sales will close on Jane 12th. The next sales will commence on August 17th. Tallow is dull of sale. Mutton, 33a 6d per cwt; beef, 32s per cwt. Wheat market flat. Adelaide is worth 54s per 496 lbs; New Zealand is worth 52s per 496 lbs. COMMERCIAL TELEGRAMS. Dtjnedin, April 23.
