ASHBURTON BOROUGH COUNCIL.
At a meeting of the above Ccuiri], held last Monday evening, his Worship the Major stated that the overdraft at the Bank was £471 lis lid, which would have to be paid before any new arrangements could be made. The Wakanui Road Board had paid i f s subsidy to the Council, but there was a sum of £4l due from the L-jiigbeach Road Board. In accordance with a letter from Mr E. Q-. Wright it was resolved to appoint a committee, consisting of the Mayor, Crs. Williamson, Orr, St. Hill, and Saurjders, to decide upon the matters which would be laid before the railway commission. The secretary wis instructed to inform the fire brigade that £25 would be paid to them at once, and to refer them to the resolution in reference to the purchase of uniforms. A motion was carried endorsing the resolution of the Christchurch City Council with respect to Hospitals and Charitable Aid. It was resolved to interview the Wakanui and Longbeach Rjad Boards regarding the Council's share of the land fund. The Council resolved itself into a committee to consider the advisability of Belling the water pipes. Som.9 matters of minor importanse having been attended to the Council adjourned.
