CARANDINI CONCERTS.
The final concert of the Carandini Company last night was exceedingly well attended. The programme compylsed some of the most popular compositions which have been given during the company’s brief season, as well as new specialities for each member of the troupe. Additional attraction was given to the instrumental portion of the concert by the performance of a duo 'concertante for piano and violin, by Messrs. J. Coombs and Landergan most artistically rendered by each gentleman. Amongst the most noticeable features of the programme was the plaintive rendering of the fine song, “ Auld Robin Gray,” by Mr Gordon Gooch, and the Irish ballad, “My Mollie Asthore,” given by Madame Carandini. The recitative and air, “La Stella Confidante,’’afforded scope for Mies Marie Carandini to the graces of her pure soprano voice ; additional effect being given by the clever violin obligato of Mr. J. Coombs. Miss Josephine Deakiu contributed a pleasing romance, “‘Destiny,” by Guglielmo, and the artistic resources of the company in choral singing were excellently displayed in the unaccompanied part song, “Sweet and low,” and in the bold song and chorus, “Allegiance we swear.” As will be seen by advertisement in another column the Carandini Company are giving their last concert at Lyttelton to-night. On Friday and Saturday they will be at Leeston and Bouthbridge, and on Monday next will give a Farewell Benefit Concert in the Oddfellows’ Hail, Christchurch.
