Money Wigram’s steamship Kent arrived in Plymouth to-day, from Australia.
April 7. The General Elections.
The election returns, so far, show that tho Liberals have gained 67 seats which were held during last Parliament by the Conservatives, five seats having been won since the sth inst. The Liberals are, however, being loss successful in the counties. Mr. Parnell, the Home Ruler, who represented County -Meath in the last House, has been elected tor Cork.

Russia and China-
An official denial has been given to the report, which has recently gained currency, to the effect that China had shown open hostility towards Russia by despatching troops across the River Amoor, and that the latter had committed acts of aggression towards the inhabitants of Kuldga BOMBAY, April 7. Afghan Affairs. The reported death of Mahomed Jan, the loader of the Afghan tribes at Ghuznoo, is denied. LONDON, April 6. Shipping. Arrived—Waikato, from Auckland. BERLIN, April G. German Stamp Duties. The Federal Council has rejected Prince Bismarck’s stamp duties, and in consequence of the action taken Prince Bismarck has resigned. It is, however, probable, that the Council will re-consider their resolution.
