The General ElectionsVictory of Liberals. The returns of the elections, so far as known, show that 271 Liberals and 141 Conservatives have been elected, showing a majority of 130 to the Liberals. The total number of seats gained by the latter is 59, and their majority is already sufficient to make thorn quite independent of tho support of the Homo Rule party. It is generally thought to be quite probable that Mr Gladstone will not accept office should tho Liberals come into power. The Afghan War.
A report has reached hero from Cahul that Mahomed Jau, leader of the Afghan tribes at Ghuznee, has been killed.
