CRICKET.

WANDERERS y. DUNEDIN 0.0. [By Tbusobaph.] DUNEDIN, March 27. The match between the Wanderers and the Dunedin Cricket Club was commenced to-day. The weather was very fine, and it was a splendid day for cricket. The ground was very treacherous at times, bumping and sometimes shooting. The Wanderers won the toss, but were not fortunate in their innings. W. Million was run out, and Ollivier was badly run out when well set. Secretan played a fine innings for his score of twenty-seven, his cutting being very good. He made a grand leg hit for 4, and four threes, before he was bowled by a very short pitched ball from Haskell. Reeves played very steadily, but gave an easy chance to Collinson at short leg, but waa let off. Afterwards he was caught from two consecutive balls, but the umpire was lenient. He, however, eventually ran himself out after scoring 18. E. Million was playing in good form, when a splendid catch by Oollinson caused his retirement. Bedmayne played well for his 9, but after he was bowled the end soon came, and the total only reached 77. After a short interval the Wanderers took the field, but the effects of the journey were soon seen in the bowlers, who tired very quickly. Conway was unfortunate, being bowled off his pad, and Glen did not stay long. Paramor and Crawshaw made a stand, and increased the score to 45, when the former was caught behind the wicket. Crawshaw was soon afterwards well caught by Secretan, but the umpire was unwilling. Crawshaw was a victim to a catch by short slip, and again the umpire failed, but the next ball he was well caught by Beswick at short slip. Morrison gave an easy chance to shortslip, where Collinson was soon afterwards taken. Douglas failed to stop a straight ball from Longden. Glasgow gave an easy chance but Beswick somehow lot it fall. At this period seven wickets were down for 64, and had Glasgow been caught, eight wickets would have been down for the same number. The score however waa now rapidly increased, and all the bowlers were tired. Glasgow played well and quickly ran up thirty by some good drives. Fitty-four runs were added during his stay at the wickets. Haskell was well caught by Secretan at 126, but time was soon called, Spring being not out for 3. He gave one chance, but the sun shining in the fieldsman’s face, ho escaped.
