HARVEST THANKSGIVING MEETING.
A harvest thanksgiving meeting was held in the Bible Christian Church, Addingtcn, on Tuesday, March the 16th. The church, which had been tastefully decorated by Mr and Mrs Scann for the occasion, wore a very appropriate appearance. An arch of evergreens, corn and flowers over the rostrum, a table covered with fruits and vegetables in front of it, and fruits, flowers and vegetables effectively ai ranged in other parts of the church, produced a very pleasing effect on eye and heart. At half-past six there was a public tea given by Mr and Mrs Straw, Mr and Mrs Peek, Mr and Mrs Wright, Mr and Mrs Vincent, and a few other friends. Mrs and Miss Straw, Mrs Peek, and Miss Vincent, presided at the tables. At eight o'clock a public meeting was held, which was addressed by the Bev. J. White (United Methodist), and Mr Chever. ton. The Bev. J. Crewes presided, and also delivered a speech. The meeting was a good one, but was somewhat saddened by the death by drowning of the infart daughter of Mr and Mrs Wright, which took place in a garden adjoining the church on the afternoon of the same day. Mr Crewes, in the courso of his address, affectingly referred to the very painful bereavement from which the parents were suffering, and asked for the prayers of the church in their behalf.
