THE ENGLISH MARKETS. Messrs Miles Bros, and Co. report upon the London market for colonial produce, under date January 2b th : WOOD. The first series of sales for the year has been ■fixed to commence on Tuesday, _ the 17th February, and should the importations on that day not amount to 250,0u0 bales, all subsequent arrivals will be available for sale until that quantity i 3 reached. This, hs'wever mly be attributed to the firmness of holders and the n'ar approach of the next sales, for the present enquiry for new wools at full rataa show that the severe weather we are experiencing has caused an increased consumption of woollen goods, thereby lessening the already limited stock of raw material on hand. At the Antwerp sales of South American wool now in progress, there is a brisk business doing at prices averaging OJd per lb over their October rates. The arrivals to date comprise— Bales. New South Wales and Queensland 11,028 Victoria 15,853 South Australia 7,923 Tasmania 250 New Zealand 5,205 Cape 38,669 Total 78,303 WHEAT AND FLOUR.
