THEATRE ROYAL.
The comedy of the " Heir at Law" ■was played on Friday night at the Theatre Royal. The feature of the piece was the masterly representation of Dr. Pangloss by Mr Houkins, a oharacter that will have no representative on the oolonial stage when Mr Hoskins quits it. Quaint, pedantic, humorous, and pompous, every phase of the part was depicted with admirable fidelity, and riohly merited the applause of the audience. Miss Florence Colville sustained the oharacter of Cicely Homespun with her usual «ffectivenojs, and the remainder of the cast was fairly satisfactory. The performance concluded with a sketch for the occasion, entitled "Mrs White at the Play." The feature in it was Mr J. P. Hydes' make-up as a very stout female, who delivered a burlesque lecture on " Woman's Rights." If the end to be gained was the laughter of the audience, the trifle may be pronounced a success. This evening " Life in the South " will form the principal item in the bill, concluding with " Mrs White at the Play."
