rRETTTBR'S TELEGRAMS.] LONDON, March 11. Wool Sales. At the wool sales to-day 9200 hales wore offered, making a total of 181,300 catalogued since the opening. The ton* of auctions continues firm, the average advance in prices over last series is now 12 J per cent. English, Finance. In the House of Commons to-day the Chancellor of the Exchequer delivered his Budget speech, and in the course of the same showed that the revenue for the past financial year amounted to £80,860,000, and the expenditure to £84,216,000. He estimated the revenue for the ensuing financial year at £81,560,000, and expenditure at £81,485,000. To meet the past deficiency £600,000 of Exchequer Bills will ba converted into terminable annuities. There will be no increase in taxation.
LONDON, March 9. Consols' Three per cent Consols are at 98. The Wool Sales. At the wool sales to-day 6000 hales were catalogued. The tone of the market was unchanged. Lord Hartington's Platform. In a manifesto issued hy Lord Hartington, he attributes the loyalty of the colonies to the autonomy conferred by the Liberals. He opposes Home Rule, and promises reforms in the franchise, local government, and land laws, and stated that the Liberals would uphold the power and integrity of the Empire, and would avoid a policy likely to cause disquiet, or the needless annexation of territory. Sir S. Northcote's Views. Sir Stafford Northcote has written a letter expressing a hope that the new Parliament will be wholly devoted to legislation on domestic affairs. Mr Gladstone's Views. The Hon. W. E. Gladstone has delivered an address. He follows the lines of Lord Hartingtoa. He condemned the fcreigm policy of Earl Beaconsfield. SAN FRANCISCO, March 10. Seditious Language. A man named Kearney, a labor agitator, has been arrested for seditious language. He has been liberated on bail.
