KOWAI PASS JOCKEY CLUB.

A meeting of the members of the above club was held at Gassidy'g Hotel, Springfield, on March Bth; Mr Oassidy in the chair. Correspondence was lead—From the Hon. John Hall consenting to act as patron to the club. From Mr H. Davies, offering £8 for the right to erect a publican's booth. The secretary was instructed to write to Mr Davies and inform him that luncheon would ba required for a limited number, and that he could erect a booth for the sum of £lO. From M. LsSeur, offering to work a totalisator and give half the proceeds to the funds of the club. Mr Rutherford gave notice of motion that the Upper Waimakariri, Coleridge and Rakaia districts be included in the district races. Mr Rutherford also moved—" That clause 3 bo altered to read, 'that all stakes be paid in full irrespective of the number of entries.' " The meeting then adjourned until Wednesday evening. On the resuming of business on Wednesday, Mr Rutherford withdrew his motion in regard to altering clause 3 of the rules, and proposed that Rakaia, Coleridge and Uppisr Waimakariri be included in the district races. Seconded by Mr Buchanan. Mr Aldred proposed as an amendment, and Mr McEeozio seconded—" That the Upper Waimaks.riri district only be added to the district races." Carried. Correspondence was read from Mr Davies agreeing to give £lO for a booth. From Mr H. P. Lance, Baying that he would act as handicapper. M. Le Seurs' offer for toltdisator was accepted. From Mr D. G. Matheson, refusing to act on the Jocktiy Club, in consequence of pressure of business. It was resolved to erect a saddling paddock one chain square. It was proposed and carried that the Springfield brass band be asked to play on the day of the races. It was resolved that the programme, as amended, be inserted in the " Times," Psess and "Malvern Independent." The secretary was requested to write to the Traffic Manager to ask rim to allow the train to stop opposite the racecourse; also, to issue return tickets at single fares. The meeting then adjourned until Marsh 25th.
