MAIL NOTICES.
Mails close at the Chief Post Office for the following places (subject to the necessary alterations) as under.SATURDAY, MARCH 6. For Otago, per Wanaka, at 1.50 p.m. ; lata fee letters, 2.10 p.m. ; guard’s van, 2.40 p.m. train. For Noithern ports of New Zealand, per Penguin, at 6 p.m. The guard’s van must not bo used for this mail. THURSDAY, MARCH 11, For the United Kingdom, Continent of Europe (via Brindisi), Mediterranean Ports, Africa, the East, Australian Colonies. &0., per express train (to connect with s.s. Rotorua at Port Chalmers) as follows Ordinary letters, 7 a.m. r ’ . Books and newspapers, at 6 a.m. Money orders, at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, March 10th. Registered letters, at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, March 10th. Late fee letters may be posted in the postoffice attached to the express train leaving Christchurch on Thursday, March Hth, at 8.40 a.m. This mail will be due in London on April 29th. The next mail for the United Kingdom, via San Francisco, will be closed at Christchurch on March 27th, and will bo due iu London on May 11th. SYDNEY J. DICK, Chief Postmaster.
