MAIL NOTICES.
Mails close at the Chief Post Office for the following places (subject to the necessary alterations) as under: — TUESDAY, MARCH 2. For Otago, per Te Anan, at 1.50 p.m. ; late fee letters, 2.10 p.m. ; guard’s van, 2.40 p.m. train. For Northern Ports, per Waitaki, at 3.15 p.m.; late fee letters, 325 p.m.; guard’s van, 3.55 p.m. train. For Northern ports, per Southern Cross, at 6 p.m. The guard’s van must not be used for this mail. THURSDAY, MARCH 4. For Australian Colonies, per Express train, at 7.30 a m. (to connect with s.s. Te Anan at Port Chalmers). FRIDAY, MARCH 5. For Northern ports of New Zealand and Australian colonies (via Sydney), per Waka. tipu. The next mail for the United Kingdom via Brindisi will be closed at Christchurch on March 11th, and will be due in London on April 29th. The next mail for the United Kingdom, via San Francisco, will be closed at Christchurch on March 27th, and will bo due in London on May 11th. SYDNEY J. DICK, Chief Postmaster.
