ADDRESS TO CONSTITUENTS.
mr McDonald at gisborne. [By Tbihgeaph.) GISBORNE, February 23. Mr Allan McDonald, M.H.R , addressed the electors of Gisborne in the Masonic Hall last night. The hall was crowded. He received an enthusiastic reception. Mr McDonald reviewed the situation Parliament during the last session. Afto dwelling at great length on matters relating to the electorate, he was severely questioned as to the action he had taken. He spoke in favorable terms of the present Government, bnt, in reply to a direct question, he said he stuck to the Grey party while it lasted. He also supported Mr Macandrew. And while having the utmost confidence in Major Atkinson and one or two of the members of the Ministry, of whom he spoke in the highest terms of praise, he positively declined to declare himself an adherent of either one or other. He assured the meeting that he had no intention of becoming a mere delegate. He had done the best he could for the district since he had become its representative, and would continue to do so for the future, as long as he had that honor. A vote of confidence was carried unanimously.
