THE NATIVE COMMISSION.

[By Tbubobaph ] HAWEBA, February 23. Before mid-day yesterday no fewer than TOO Maoris had come in to see the Commission, and the result was a long sitting. A good deal of discussion ensued with regard to a certain reserve of 700 acres, which was first given to the Maoris and then taken from them, as the Government wanted it. Other land and more of it was offered instead. The Government claimed to be able to do this in •consequence of the land being confiscated. The Commissioners deferred taking any further evidence upon the matter until certain documentary evidence was produced. Little of general interest transpired during the proceedings yesterday.
