CHBISTOHURCH. Satcbday, Febbttaby 21, [Before G. L. Mellish, Esq., B.HL, and C. Whitefoord, Esq., B.M.] Ltjhacy, Henry Fitzgerald Allen was charged with lunaoy from drink. He was remanded for seven days for medical treatment. Thomas Ealliwell, charged with drunkenness, appeared in Court in such >a state of mental and physical debility, that he was similarly dealt with. Viosbnt Assatxm!.—Bridget Leader was charged with violently assaulting her husband, John. Leader. The prosecutor gave a wretched account of his married life. His wife was always drinking, and when in that state was in the habit of beating his mother and illusing her children. She finished off with hitting him on the head with a stone, and cutting it open. He and the ohildren had had to sleep out in consequence of her -violence. The prisoner was sentenced to fourteen days' imprisonment, with hard labor, and recommended to take the pledge when 'liberated.
