LINCOLN.
A well attended meeting of churchwardens and vestrymen from all parts of the parochial district of Lincoln-oum-Springston, was held in the schoolroom, Lincoln, on Tuesday evening last, to consider the appointment of a clergyman to fill the vacancy which has occurred in the above parochial cure by the resignation of the Rev. W. Dunkley. The chair was taken by Mr Beaumont. In reply to questions the Rev. A. P. O’Callaghan stated that in consequence of there being no parochial nominators the district had no power of nomination, and the appointment was solely in the hands of the Bishop. After some desultory conversation the following resolution was carried unanimously :—“ That this meeting, having been informed of the Bishop’s intention as to the appointment of a curate to fill the vacancy in the parochial district, caused by the resignation of the Rev. W. Dunkley, is of opinion that a memorial, asking that the Rev. H. Stocker be re-appointed to the district, should be drawn up and respectfully presented to the Bishop.” A memorial to the Primate, asking that his lordship would fill up the vacancy by the re-appointment of the Rev. H. Stocker, was draw n up and signed by all present, and a deputation was appointed to wait upon his lordship and present the memorial on the following d>y.
