INDEPENDENT ORDER OF RECHABITES.
The district meeting of this order oontinued its sittings on Wednesday at the Templar Hall. The levies for the current year were fixed as follows :—Contingent fund, Is lOd; sick relief fund, lsd. The election of offioors resulted as follows :—D.C.R., Bro. F. Sidey (Wellington) ; D.D.R., Bro. P. Rankin (Dunedin) ; D.T.,8r0. J. Okell (Wellington); D.S., Bro. F. H. Fraser (Wellington); auditors, Bro. A. J. Bennett and H. B. Parsonage. The items on the business sheet were then proceeded with. The question of mixed tents came up for consideration, and, after considerable discussion, it was decided to allow the matter to remain as at present—that is, that the male and female branches continue separate. It was unanimously decided to adopt a graduated acale of contribution after the Ist July next. A resolution was carried to the effect that £lO be paid to a member on the death of his wife. Hitherto it has been compulsory for a member's wife to be a total abstainer to entitle him to benefit, but now all that is neoeesary will be to produca a certificate that she is in good health at the time of being entered. It was decided to establish an annuity branch in connection with the order, and a scale o£ contributions and benefits was prepared, to be submitted to the Government for adoption. A considerable amount of other business was transacted.
