ACCIDENT INSURANCE COMPANY.
The prospectus has been issued of a new company, entitled the New Zealand Accilent Insu ranee Company. The title of the now enterprise sufficiently explains its scope. Insurance companies of this character have for a long time existed in the old country, and have proved of great value in numberless cases where persons have through accident been deprived of the means of living. The risks the Accident Insurance Company proposes to undertake are divided into four classes—ordinary, extra, hazardous, and special risks. The title “ ordinary risks ” explains itself as those of every day occurrence common to all classes. Extra risks are meant to include such as are peculiar to constructive occupations ; hazardous risks apply more especially to mariners, mining engineers, policemen, Ao., whose profession is more or less of a necessarily hazardous nature, and the risks that come under the fourth heading of “ special ” are sufficiently indicated by the term employed; these include such callings as huntsmen, stock riders, horse breakers, Ac. Appended to the prospectus is a table of rates showing the amount of compensation paid in case of death or disablement. The distinctive features of the company are also stated. The promoters of the company have secured the services of the staff of the New Zealand Insurance Company and the use of their offices, Mr D. Craig being appointed general manager for Canterbury.
