AMERICA MEAT EXPORT.

A New York paper says: —The exports of fresh beef for the month of September, 1879, amounted to 4.855,153’ib5. against 3,060,5251b5. in the month of September, 1878. In some quarters it has been stated that exportations of live stock have largely decreased, but this is not correct. There has been a falling off, but the total result of the calendar year will show a considerable increase over that of the preceding twelvemonths. The Chief of the Bureau of Statistics reports that the value of tho exports of live animals of all kinds increased from 5,841,653 dollars during the fiscal year 1878, to 11,487,754 dollars during 1879. Of tho total exports, 71 per con f -, wore sent to Great Britain. The value of the exports of cattle increased from 3 986,818 dollars during 1878, to 8,379,200 in 1879. It is believed that the improvements which have been made, and which are still in progress, for effecting the speedy transportation of cattle and for securing their comfort and health, both on railroad cars and on shipboard, will result in a large and constant increase of such exports. Under the present facilities for direct shipments on through bills of lading from the Northwestern States to Europe, tho poisons placed

in charge of the cattle at the interior point of shipment in many instances accompany the animals throughout the entire journey to Liverpool, thus securing great efficiency in the .are of the cattle.
