Diplomatic correspondence has been exchanged between the Foreign Office hero and the Executive of Jeheran, tho result being that England has released Persia from that clause of the existing treaty which binds the latter not to take Herat. Mr Bedmond’s AmendmentThe debate in the House of Commons on Mr Redmond’s amendment on the Address, was continued, but again adjourned, owing to the persistent obstruction on the part of the members of the Home Rule party. The Liberal party was opposed to the amendment, and both Lord Hartington and Mr Foster spoke strongly against it. Burning of a Theatre.

During a soldiers’ fete at Stamboul the barracks fell in, and two hundred wore killed, while a largo number wore injured.

The Irish Members
The Irish members only moved an amendment to the Address on the Government’s proposed loans to landlords at one per cent. The Irish demand the same privileges for tenants, and the general improvement of the land laws.
Sheep in England - The ‘‘ Wool Trade Review ” says that owing to the continued wet last year sheep rot was extremely prevalent, especially in the Midland and Western counties. 10,000 sheep, chiefly ewes, are dead, and they are dying in part of Oxford, Warwick, Somerset, and Gloucester. Only a small proportion are left. It is expected that a large proportion of the lambing ewes will succumb, and the matter is becoming one of serious consideration. The Hankow. Tugs are bringing the mail steamer Hankow to Plymouth, her engines being disabled. Australian MeatSydney mutton sold to-day at 5 !,d to 6d, beef 4ld to sd. Tho beef is not drawing so quickly, being somewhat injured. The price of home beef and mutton averages 6§d. American beef is the same as Australian. American mutton is 6d per cwt. less. Australian (?) butter 120 s, equal to the price of the same quality of English, and 6s better than American.
