THE EASTER REVIEW.
As there is now every probability of the Easter Review being an accomplished fact—the committee having arranged or very nearly ao for billeting the men—Major Lean, the Assistant Quartermaster-General, has issued the following documents : Assistant Quartermaster-General’s Office, i hristchurch, February 4th, 1880. A review of volunteers will be held at Christchurch on Faster Mouday, the 24th March ext. _ . It will not be practicable to receive cadet corps. The Government have authorised the issue of free railway passes. Non-commissioned officers and privates will through the officers commanding their respective corps pay each \os For tais payment on arrival, or failing this on demand, they will be provided ■with board and lodging from arrival on Friday evening, 26th March, to Tuesday morning 30th of March inclusive.
The above arrangement does not extend to officers, who will pav their own expenses. Officers rommanding corps will be good enough to forward to the Assistant Quarter-master-General at the earliest date, consistent with accuracy, and not later than the 18th inst., the enclosed form duly filled up and signed by them in pro forma specimen below. Officers commanding corps will be responsible for payment of head money at 10s a head on number of non-commissioned officers and privates therein stated, acd for such additional Valunteera as may avail themselves of the bil ets provided. The following form of reply has been forwarded for the officers commanding corps to fill up : Sir, —Referring to memorandum No. 1, 4th February, 1830, I have the honor to inform jou that the estimated number of men belonging to the corps under my command likely to attend the review at Christchurch at Easter next is as follows : [Form Enclosed.] And I will pay on demand 10s a head on the above number of non-commissioned officers and privates, and on any beyond that number who may ho present. (Bank) Commanding Volunteer Corps. Post Office ad dr. ss I have the honor to be, lour obedient servant. Major Lean, Assistant Quartermaster-General, Christchurch. The following is a sketch diary of what is proposed from Friday evening to Tuesday morning : 26th March—Friday—Arrival. 27th March—Saturday—Forenoon, battalions will drill, catch under its own commanding officer; afternoon, military fete at Christchurch drill shed, Cavalry exercises, gun dismounting corr petition, bayonet exercise, single stick, 4c., &c. ; evening, promenade concert of regimental bands. 28th March —Sunday—Church parade. 20th . March—Monday—Review ; evening, ball at drill ■'hod. 30th March —Tuesday—Morning, corps are dismissed.
