AGRICULTURAL AND PASTORAL ASSOCIATION.

A committee meeting of the Agricultural and Pastoral Association was held yesterday. Present—Messrs A. Duncan (vice-president, in the chair), W. Norman, B. Wilkin, J. R. Hill, H. E. Alport, T. Bruce, H. P. MurrayAynsley, J. Anderson, jun., P. Cunningham, • GHlmour, Sutherland, and Mcßeath. The minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed. A letter was read from Messrs Oliver and Langford, and considered satisfactory. A letter was received from Messrs Reid and Gray, touching the award to broadcast sowing machines at the last show. After some discussion, it was resolved to refer the letter to the sub-committee, who had already reported upon the subject. Letters were read from Messrs Wood, Shand and Co. and Messrs Mason and Strothers, protesting against the decision of the judges of reapers and binders at the Fendalbown trial.

On the motion of Mr J. B. Hill, seconded by Mr Wm. Norman, it was resolved—•“ That the committee of the association, having appointed thoroughly competent gentlemen, see no reason for questioning their judgment.” Referring to the same subject it was resolved, on the motion of Mr H. E. Alport, seconded by Mr Bruce —“ That the committee record their appreciation of the manner in which the judges at the reaper and binder trial discharged their arduous duties.” The subject of purchasing a selection of books, to be awarded as prizes, was discussed by the committee, and Mr Wilkin moved—s‘That a sub-committee, consisting of the president, vice-president, and the mover, be appointed to select prize books of a value not exceeding £IOO, and to order the same by the next outgoing San Francisco mail.” The motion was seconded by Mr Norman, and carried unanimously. It was decided to hold the annual meeting at the rooms of the association on Thursday, March 11th, at 7 SO p.m. It was resolved—“ That Mr T. B. Oraig be requested to audit the books of the ass eolation for the past year also, on the motion of TVTr Cunningham, seconded by Mr Mcßeath—“ That a sub-committee, consisting of the president, vice-president, and Messrs Hill and Wilkin be appointed to draw up the annual report and submit the same at next meeting of the committee.” This terminated the business, and the committee adjourned.
