The observations aro taken at 9.30 a.m., and record the temperature of the previous twenty-four hours. BBMABKS. The month commeuced and remained very fine until tbe 13th, when a steady rain fell from the S.W., continuing next day; the following day fine. On the 16th heavy rain and hail, with lightning and thunder, but of short duration; then cleared, remaining fine until the end of the month, with an occasional shower. Prevailing winds have boenN.E. arid SW. The rainfall has been slightly less than the average of the Bame month for the previous four years j there have been twentyseven fine days during the month. J. B. Stansbll, Observer. NEW ZEALAND RIFLE ASSOCIATION. The time for entries for the second priza meeting of the New Zealand Rifle Association is now drawing very close. Those who desire to enter at the fee fixed must do so before the 14th instant, otherwise they will have to pay a i additional fee of 2s 6d per match. As nearly £IOOO is allocated for prizes, it is hoped that Canterbury marksmen will be fully represented on the occasion. The meeting takes place on March 2nd and following d-ys at Nelson, and the Union Steamship Company have arranged to give special terms in the matter of return tickets.
