CRICKET.
Yesterday the Midland Club played & match with the members of the Opera Company on the Association ground, which, after some good cricket on both sides, was won just in time by the club The Opera Company were very unlucky in their first innings, scoring only 51, but in their second they showed much better form, particularly Musgrove, who carried out his bat for 59. Trevorah 14 F Beaumont 13, Verdi 12, 3?ord 15, and Roberts 11 were the other scorers. The Midland started Tery badly, as six wickets were down for 37, but Sims and W. H. Ataok then got together and pul ed the score up to 107. The former, who is a well known member of a metropolitan club, made a very good 50, including a 7 hit, and Ataok also played well for 42. The total was 135 ; the Midland thus had 57 to get to win and less than an hour to get it in, but Sims and Milner knocked no 35 for the first wicket, and Douglas, when Milner left with 22 to his credit, assisted his partner to make the required number, wbi~h was effected ju-t before time was called. The bowling of Beaumont for the Opera Company was excellent, but their fielding, as might be expected with men out of practice, was rather «s’r»y
