SYDENHAM BOROUGH COUNCIL
A spc-oial meeting of the Sydenham Borough Council was held last evening, to consider the question of the business to be brought before the proposed municipal conference. A conversational discussion tojk place, and the Mayor, Councillors Charters and White, were appointed to represent the Sydenham Council in the conference. It was resolved to leave the matters discussed in the hands of the delegates. The questions of tho Post End Telegraph Office tor Sydenham, the obtaining of recreation reserves for tho borough, and other matters were discussed, and it was ultimately resolved to communicate with the Government on these subjects. Tho Mayor said that as a Council they had had no communication with reference, to collection of subscriptions towards the fund for the relief of the distress in Ireland, but no doubt there would be one. Councillor Charters suggested that instead of the Mayor giving the usual municipal banquet, he should contribute the amount which would thu3 be expended to the fund. No resolution was Errived at on the subject, and the meeting then adjourned.
