LYTTELTON. Wednesday, Janpaby 22. [Before H. Allwright, Esq", J.P.] Rbfbactoby Seamen. —James Cavanagh r absent from his ship, the Bruce, without leave, and August Peters, chief officer of the American barque Pearl, for refusing duty, were remanded until Friday, the Bench stating that this course was necessary, their cases requiring two Justices of the Peace or a Resident Magistrate. The Bench further remarked that, until the Goverment appointed a magistrate solely for the Port, such hardships would continually arise.
