The ship Euterpe, now discharging her London cargo at the Gladstone Pier, it is said will proceed hence to Adelaide to load for home. The New Zealand Shipping Company's chartered ship Arethusa, hero some months since, and commanded by Captain Stiven, arrived last night from Wei ington, in ballast. She is to go on the London berth, to follow the company’s ship HuruThe brigantine Elizabeth Curio, Captain Johnson, arrived yesterday morning from Picton, timber laden. She left there last Sunday, and was berthed on arrival at No. 4 jetty. The Star of India finished discharging yesterday. Two of the tramway engines were landed yesterday from the ship Waitara. Two others will be discharged from the Hereford to-day, and a quantity of fittings from both vessels. The John Knox had but three trnck of cargo in last night. She will return to Sydney immediately after ballasting. The Prince Alfred moved from Peacock's Wharf ■to No. 5 yesterday, for discharging facilities. The Hereford commenced discharging cargo yesterday. , . _ , The demand for railway tracks yesterday along the wharves exceeded the supply considerably. By the evening train, however, a moderate instalment arrived at Port towards to-day’s requirements, and no doubt that within a day or two the sudden activity in the shipping line in this connection will "be easily coped with. The s.s. Taiaroa arrived at 9 a.m. yesterday, seventeen hours from Wellington. She sailed for Port Chalmers at 4.30 p.m., to return here next Tuesday, en route to the Manukau. The s.s. Eotorua, from Port Chalmers, arrived yesterday forenoon. She left Melbourne December 31st, 1879, at 2.45 p.m., and arrived at the Bluff January sth, 1880, at 4 a.m. Left same d-iy at 5 ■p.m., and arrived at Port Chalmers on the 6th, at 5 a.m.; left on 7th at 4.15 pm, and had fine weather up. She sailed for Auckland, via Wellington and way ports, at 5 p.m., to return en route South to Hobart Town and Melbourne on the 20th inst. SHIPPING TELEGEAMS. Port Chalmers* January 9. Ah Why, and Mr Park ; for Greymonth—Mrs Mellitt, Messrs Bowman, Jarvis, and Jones. Sailed: Maori, s.s., for Timaru.
