THEATRE ROYAL.
A drama from the pen of the late Watts Phillips, entitled " Lost in London," was produced last night tuccessfully, at the Theatre Royal. The pieoe is not unknown in Ohristohurch, having been performed on more than one occasion. The play was handsomely mounted, one scene in particular, the exterior of Feme Villa by night, with the wintry effects of a snowstorm, by Mr Williams, eliciting enthusiastic marks of approval. Mr J. J. Wallace gave a picturesque and forcible rendering of Job Armroyd, a Lancashire miner, his acting being characterised by rugged pathos and manly earnestness. Miss Ada Lester ably seconded his endeavours, in the character of Nelly Armroyd, the betrayed and repentant wife. Her acting was replete with tenderness, and she and Mr Wallace were called before the curtain at the end of the second act, and again at the end of the play. Miss Lizzie Dixon was quite at home as the honest Lancashire lass, Tiddy Dragglethorpe, playing with great spirit, and her efforts were well seconded by Mr Rede in the comic character of Bob Blinker. The other characters were well sustained by the company. The same bill will tie repeated to-night.
