SWIMMING RACES.
Two well contested swimming races came off in the Humbug Beach of the River Heathcote at seven o’clock yesterday morning : Two Hundred Yards Handicap. First, JS2 10s; second, £1 ; third, 10s. E. Pavitt, 18yds 1 Sheriff, 2yds 2 J. Davis, scratch 3 Seven started. Won by a foot, two yards separating second and third. Time, 3min. Boys’ Race; 100 yards. First prize, 10s; second, 7s 6d ; third, 2a 6d, McHarg 1 Langdown 2 Five started. Won by two yards.
